Great destruction in Churches and houses for the hurricane in Pinar del Río and the Youth’s Island.

During the journey to Pinar del Río, we could see how the hurricane Gustav caused big damages in that province. We went to Soroa, Los Palacios, Paso Real, Herradura, Entronque de Herradura and San Diego.

The damage is a lot. Many houses were destroyed and some of them lost their roofs. Many of the temples were damaged. This is an area where the houses are made of wood or old constructions. People don't have water, electricity, or food. They lost many of their belongings; beds, mattresses etc.

The temple in Entronque de Herradura lost the whole roof, now it is on the banks and seats. They are concerned because the structure that tolerates the walls felt. The Pastor in Los Palacios told us that it was something terrible. Almost all the people of the town have problems with their houses. The deposits where they had the water are gone.
The Pastor in San Diego told us that he, his wife and their daughter was inside a wardrobe and they remained the whole time there. It was the surest place. Only a miracle of God saves them, because the walls felt down.

The Bishop and a team of brothers were giving food to the Pastors, but it was very painful not to have resources to be able to help all the other people that looked at us, they only had coconut to eat. We already sent a bus full with food to distribute in Pinar del Río. Clothes and beds are picking up for those that the rain has been damaged.

In a short call with Pastor Aramis (Pastor in La Fe Church, the Youth’s Island), he told us that there are many damages. Thanks to God the temples have not suffered damage. Only part of the construction material for the Church of La Fe got lost.

Many houses of the members of the Church have gotten lost. During the hurricane many were inside the temple. We hope to have more news. We request pray for these people and for the Pastors that have not moved of their places to take care of the Church.
